How to use it
Enter the start and end time and the length of any unpaid break. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as going past midnight. Add an hourly rate to see the pay for the shift.
The formula
hours = (end − start − break) ÷ 60, with times counted in minutes
Example: 8:00 to 17:00 with a 60-minute lunch is 540 − 60 = 480 minutes, which is 8 hours (8.00 as a decimal).
Hours and minutes vs decimal hours
Payroll uses decimal hours. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75, not 7.45. To convert, divide the minutes by 60:

Common questions
How do I calculate a night shift?
Just enter it. 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours. In the Philippines, work between 10 pm and 6 am earns a night shift differential of at least 10% of the hourly rate.
Is the lunch break counted as work?
Under Philippine labor rules, a regular meal break of at least 60 minutes is not paid time. Shorter rest breaks, such as a 15-minute coffee break, count as work.
