How to use it

Pick a PDF, then press Convert to Word. A .docx file with the same name downloads, ready to open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, WPS or LibreOffice.

What you get

This converter pulls out the text of each page and rebuilds it as paragraphs you can edit. Each PDF page starts a new page in Word.

It does not copy the layout: images, tables, columns, fonts and colours are left out. It is best for getting the words out of a letter, a report or a form so you can edit and reuse them.

Your files stay on your device

The PDF is read inside your browser with Mozilla's open-source PDF.js, the same reader built into Firefox. Nothing is uploaded.

Common questions

Why does it say no text was found?

The PDF is a scan: each page is a picture of paper, with no real text inside. It needs OCR (text recognition) first, which this tool does not do.

Why are some lines joined or split in odd places?

PDFs store text as pieces placed on a page, not as paragraphs. The converter guesses where paragraphs start and end. Check headings and lists after converting.

Can I convert it back?
