How to use it
Score to percentage: enter the points you got and the total points on the test.
Final exam: enter your grade so far, how much the final is worth, and the final grade you want. You get the score you need on the final.
The formulas
grade = score ÷ total × 100
Example: 42 out of 50 is 42 ÷ 50 × 100 = 84%.
needed on the final = (goal − current × (1 − weight)) ÷ weight
with the weight as a decimal (30% = 0.30).
Example: you have 82%, the final is worth 30%, and you want 85%. (85 − 82 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = (85 − 57.4) ÷ 0.30 = 92%.
Common questions
What if it says I need more than 100%?
Then the goal cannot be reached on the final alone. Ask your teacher about extra credit, or aim for a lower goal.
What is the transmutation table?
Many Philippine schools convert a raw percentage into a reported grade with a transmutation table. Under DepEd's K to 12 rules, a raw 60% becomes a reported 75, the passing grade. This tool shows the raw percentage. Use your school's table for the reported grade.
